Mark Barshop is Of Counsel in Sklar Kirsh’s Real Estate Department. He has been practicing real estate law for over 40 years and specializes in all aspects of commercial real estate including, construction, leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, and financings.
In the construction field, Mark represents owners in both ground-up construction projects and remodeling projects. His construction clients over the years have included national insurance companies with real estate portfolios, international hoteliers, pension funds, REITs, professional sports teams, universities, hospitals, as well as Los Angeles county museums.
Mark began his career with Loeb and Loeb before he transitioned to Paul Hastings and later to Glaser Weil. He also spent a short time in his family construction business and obtained his own California general construction license, which experience he has continued to utilize for clients with construction projects.
Mark was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from UCLA in 1975, with election to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his J.D. degree from USC in 1978.
Mark has strong community ties in Los Angeles and has served on the boards of, and as a member of, several charitable and civic institutions.
