Matthew S. Bugaj is an Associate of Sklar Kirsh in the Corporate Department. He represents public and private companies in a broad range of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, equity financings, restructurings, joint ventures, and corporate governance matters. Matthew also has experience advising public companies in connection with SEC compliance under US federal securities laws. His experience representing companies of many types and sizes brings diverse corporate world experience and a solid understanding of the challenges clients face, so he can offer effective solutions.
Prior to joining Sklar Kirsh, Matthew was a Corporate Associate with Morgan, Lewis & Bockus LLP, for nearly 3 years. There he assisted public and private companies with complex M&A and corporate transactions including stock and asset purchases, mergers, and divestitures, including those with complicated carve-out mechanisms and life sciences licensing and collaboration arrangements. He also provided over 100 hours of pro bono legal assistance each year with most of such assistance in the social impact investing space.
Matthew received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Michigan Law School, Cum Laude. He received a Dean’s Scholarship, Certificate of Merit in Corporate Law, and he participated in community engagement and service.
In his free time, Matthew enjoys playing golf and softball, watching Michigan sports, reading history books and traveling.
